Ethan James began his career in photography in 2003 while obtaining his MA at Texas A&M University. He moved to Tennessee in 2005 and continued his work in photography while completing a PhD in English.
Ethan's photography primarily focuses on the male model (portrait, commercial/fashion, and nudes). His publication history includes covers and/or features with stateside and international magazines including: DNA, NY Arts, Guitar Player, QX, Life & Style, Instinct, and more. Ethan's work has also appeared in photo-books by Bruno Gmünder, fiction book covers, and several male-model calendars. Ethan and his work were also featured in the 2010 art-documentary, Gaze. In the academic field, he is a published scholar on Tennessee Williams, popular culture (TV and film), LGBTQ culture, and his own book on horror films was published in 2013.
Ethan's studio is currently based just outside of Nashville where he is also professor of English at the local university.
